Few industries demonstrate the power of transformation as fundamentally as construction; an innate force driving the growth and development of our clients’ visions, and of our people themselves. At GVK-Siya Zama, we have always believed in the value and potential of our people – which is why when in 1994, the practice of Black Economic Empowerment was first introduced, we embraced it fully. Rather than looking to outside parties to foster transformation within the company, we instead looked to our existing employees, empowering them with opportunities, training, leadership positions and ownership initiatives in an effort to drive tangible, positive change.
The Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) is a public entity designed to drive sustainable growth, reform and improvement within South Africa’s construction sector. As part of this initiative, the CIDB also assigns contractors grading levels from 1 to 9 in order to determine the maximum value of work for which they can tender. GVK-Siya Zama is one of only a handful of privately-owned construction companies to be graded at a Level 9 GB PE (General Building, Potentially Emerging), affirming our status as an innovative, forward-thinking company.
The ultimate aim of Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) is to create opportunities for the majority of citizens to participate meaningfully in the mainstream economy. Thanks to our dedication to empowerment and change, GVK-Siya Zama is currently rated at a level of 3, with every effort being made to further build on this ranking.
Education is the most
which you can use
to change the world.
A quality education is the foundation upon which our country’s future will be built.
As construction professionals, building is in our blood: building our country’s future through significant, impactful projects, building our people through guidance and mentorship, and building our youth through the most powerful catalyst of all – education.
To this end, GVK-Siya Zama has pledged to make resources available for the children of our employees through the administration of an education fund, and to further grow this fund over time in order to support a range of educational needs. Although in its early stages, the fund is already beginning to sow seeds of change that will ultimately bloom into a brighter, more prosperous future for us all.
