With 25 years of experience in the construction industry, Reece Hutton has been appointed as the new Managing Director of GVK-Siya Zama’s Gauteng operation.
The construction company’s CEO, Eben Meyburgh, says: “Reece is a seasoned construction professional who is well-placed to take the lead of the biggest business in our group. He has worked in Gauteng before and understands the pace of business in the region. Not only does he bring warmth, experience, energy and passion to the table, he is also a good manager and leader and is well-equipped to lead a diverse team over multiple sites, some of which are far out of town, in delivering exceptional projects to clients.”
Hutton began his career in KwaZulu-Natal as a Sub-agent, working on a variety of projects in the industrial, residential and healthcare industries. He was soon snapped up by a major construction company and, as a Site Engineer, expanded his portfolio with the construction of various large-scale projects. Prior to joining GVK-Siya Zama, he held senior management and board level positions with reputable contractors, the last of which took him to Limpopo for a number of years.
In 2012, he joined the GVK-Siya Zama team as the company’s Contracts Manager in KwaZulu-Natal, overseeing the management of various building and civil contracts. Two years later, he was appointed as Managing Director of the region.
Meyburgh shares: “Reece managed to turn around a marginal business in KwaZulu-Natal and was prepared to make tough calls for the survival and eventual success of the region. He is proactive and will bring this same problem solving and positive energy to bear in his dealings with Gauteng staff and clients.”
In his new role and region, Hutton hopes to replicate the success that he brought about in KwaZulu-Natal. “I am excited to return to Gauteng and am up for the challenge of taking the operation to new heights.”
